Botanic Cultural Complex
녹색공간을 상업적으로, 그리고 문화적으로 연계하기 위해 Botanic Cultural Complex 라는 새로운 프로그램을 제안한다. 식물에 관한 모든 것들이 이루어지는 문화복합공간으로, 건물 하나가 사이클이 되어 식물 재배에서 시작해 전시, 홈 가드닝, 꽃꽃이 클래스, 원예 교실, 티카페 등이 이루어진다.
In order to connect the green space commercially and culturally, we propose a new program called Botanic Cultural Complex. It is a cultural complex where everything about plants takes place, and one building starts with plant cultivation in a cycle, followed by exhibitions, home gardening, flower classes, gardening classes, and tea cafes.
Site Building
사이트에 방문하자 마자 기존 건물이 가지고 있는 매력에 매료되었다. 그리고 이것을 리모델링해야겠다는 결심을 했다. 두가지 큰 이유로는 공장으로 쓰이던 제법 큰 규모의 4층짜리 건물에 둘러싸인 강조된 난간과 붉은 벽돌로 인한 따뜻한 분위기였다. 이 기존 낡은 건물에 그와 대비되는 살아있는 식물을 놓으면 생명력을 부각시킬 수 있겠다는 생각이 들었다.
I was fascinated by the charm of the existing building as soon as I visited the site. And I made the decision to remodel it. The warm atmosphere was caused by the highlighted railing and red bricks surrounded by a fairly large four-story building that was used as a factory for two main reasons. I thought that this old building could highlight its vitality by placing living plants in contrast to it.
Remodeling Strategies
기존 건물에서 골조, 테라스, 난간 이 세 가지를 남기기로 했다. 그 다음으로 버릴 것을 정하기 위한 고민을 하였는데, 이 고민은 결론적으로 ‘슬라브를 어떻게 할 것인가?’ 라는 질문으로 귀결되었다. 식물들을 위한 채광 확보와 성수스러운 비일상적인 공간감을 형성하고자 슬라브를 일부 제거하고자 하였다.
It decided to leave three things in the existing building: frame, terrace, and the railing. Next, I thought about what to throw away, and this concern eventually resulted in the question of ‘What to do with Slabs?’ To secure lighting for plants and to form a holy sense of unusual space, some of the slabs were removed.
Concept
어떻게 슬라브를 제거할 것인가? 슬라브를 털고 골조만 남기는 것이 아닌 부분적으로 구멍을 내여 폐허의 이미지에서 벗어나고 비일상적인 공간함을 형성하고자 하였다. 슬라브가 뚫린 부분으로 나무들이 올라가고, 뚫린 부위 주위로 식물들이 전시되며 사람들이 구멍사이로 지나간다.
How to remove the slab? Rather than tearing down the slab and leaving only the frame, it was intended to form an unusual space from the image of the ruins by partially drilling it. Trees are raised in the perforated part of the slab, plants are displayed around the perforated part, and people pass through the holes.
사람들은 이동할 때 기둥을 피해서 다닌다. 만약 보의 가운데에 구멍을 뚫으면 보행에 방해가 될 것이다. 이동의 측면에서 보았을 때 기둥 주변으로 슬라브를 뚫으면 이동 동선과 겹치지 않을 것이다. 이로 인해 기존 건물의 골조가 강조되고 다양한 이동변수가 생긴다.
When people move, they avoid pillars. If you drill a hole in the middle of the beam, it will interfere with your walking. In terms of movement, if you drill a slab around the pillar, it will not overlap with the movement line. This emphasizes the frame of the existing building and creates various movement variables.
테라스는 이동하는 공간이어야만 할까? 테라스(남향)에 구멍을 뚫고 이동동선을 내부로 넣으면 기존의 테라스를 1500의 복도식 이동공간이 아닌 머무르는 외부공간이 되지 않을까.
By drilling a hole in the terrace and inserting the moving path inside, the existing terrace is formed as a space to stay rather than a corridor. Place plants around the inner hole to ensure lighting and space
Design
목조의 결구방식을 콘크리트로 만든 기존의 난간을 재해석하고자 했다. 기존 건물과 연결될 증축 건물의 난간은 철물 재료를 쓰고 곡선으로 형태를 바꾸어 기존 난간 결구 방식을 그대로 적용하였다.
It was intended to reinterpret the existing railing made of concrete using the wooden fastening method. The railing of the extension building to be connected to the existing building was made of hardware and changed into a curved shape, and the existing railing fastening method was applied as it was.
기존의 붉은 벽돌은 북측면만 유지하고 나머지는 제거하고 유리블럭으로 대체하였다. 동일한 구축의 개념을 유지하되 채광이 가능하게 하여 식물과 전시에 유리한 환경을 만들었다.
The existing red bricks were maintained only on the north side, and the rest were removed and replaced with glass blocks. While maintaining the same concept of construction, it enabled lighting, creating a favorable environment for plants and exhibitions.
